Published by Open Road PublishingCap Juluca, named for the native Arawak Indian Rainbow God, is an exclusive getaway for those looking for privacy and pampering. The 58 guest rooms and junior suites, seven suites, six pool villas all offer complimentary mini bar, marble baths, and hair dryer. Some units include kitchen with refrigerator and dining room. Guest facilities include three tennis courts, croquet, beach, pool, Sunfish, kayaks, windsurfing, fitness center, snorkel trips, and sunset cruises.
Cap Juluca offers a children's program called "Cap Juluca Kids" during the peak family season: Easter holidays and the months of July and August. The program is complimentary for guests and includes a full day of activities and theme field trips several times a week as well as lunch and a Cap Juluca kids' T-shirt. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 5 pm.
"At Cap Juluca we're providing a holiday for the entire family," says Kermin Beriker, general manager. "With Cap Juluca's Kids, parents have time to enjoy each other while knowing their children are in excellent hands themselves, as well as learning."
Children have the opportunity to learn through themed activities such as "Anguilla Today," a day of fun that highlights the island's residents, animals, ponds, and the sea; "Amerindians and Arawaks," with a visit to an island cave to hunt for fossils and crystals; "Fishing and Salt Production," to explore a fishing village; "Boat Racing," with a visit to the island's traditional boat builders. The most popular trip explores Gavanah Cave, where the island's first archeological find, a giant rodent fossil, was discovered in 1868. The rodent weighed 345 pounds but, to the relief of everyone, hasn't resided on the island in over 100,000 years!
After the two-hour field trips, children enjoy activities at the resort including puppet shows, journal writing, music, photography, nature hikes, games, and arts and crafts. The program is available for children age four to 12.
Babysitting is available for children under four. Children's rooms are half-price from June through October.
