CAP JULUCA RESORT RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD February 26, 2002 - Cap Juluca Resort is proud to announce it has been awarded the Merit Environmental Improvement Award for its landscape renovation project in the 32nd Annual Exterior Environmental Improvement Awards Program sponsored by the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA). Cap Juluca's year-long landscape renovation project began following the destruction caused by Hurricane "Lenny" in November 1999. The project took one year to complete. Approximately 70% of the landscaping was replanted, while keeping the resort's natural theme in focus. This award represents the sixth landscaping award won by the resort since 1997. ALCA's Environmental Improvement Awards Program reflects the association's commitment to creating and preserving the beauty of our landscape. The program is designed to reward landscape professionals who execute quality landscaping projects and to recognize citizens who underwrite such work. In sponsoring the Awards Program, ALCA also strives to increase public awareness of environmental improvement through quality landscaping and to encourage the landscape contractors' consistent use of quality materials and workmanship. ALCA is a national trade association representing more than 2,000 interior and exterior landscape maintenance, installation, and design/build contractors and suppliers nationwide. Kerry R. Knotts, Director of Horticulture and Development, accepted the award on behalf of Cap Juluca Resort at the recent Green Industry Exhibition held in Tampa, Florida.
